So I have been doing so much behind the scenes in my business and one of the struggles that I’ve been telling myself around creating content has been how am I going to have time? How am I going to find time? So this episode is an Instagram live I did. where I talk about three strategies that have helped me create content, even when time feels very, very scarce.
Okay. We have lots and lots and lots of projects that I invested into in the last couple of months, and I’ve really had to test how Productive I could be in the little time that I have. And that’s what I’m talking about in this [00:10:00] episode. So if you struggle, like if a lot of what you, if you’re struggling with content, one of them is around time and not having the time or the energy, especially if you have like kids or if you’re a caregiver of any.

I hope to see you inside of show up real. I will see you later. Bye. Okay, so here’s what happened. I went to my coach and I was like, look, there’s a lot I want to do in a very short amount of time.
I feel like I’m gonna either fail or like something’s going to go wrong. Cause this is like too much for me to, to kind of do. And I have a, I have a team that supports me, but these projects are big and I have to, it’s a lot of. [00:11:00] My brain power like it’s a lot of me using my brain And so I went to her and I was like this is just too much to do I have this to do and then I have a live event and it’s three days long and I’m spending 10, 000 plus dollars on it damn near 15, 000 on it I have, um, uh, I have a new program coming out.
I have to get my SOPs like brand new SOPs for this live event and like so much more updated. I need to restructure my team. I have a workbook I’m working on for my clients. Like there’s so much happening in my business. And She literally said, that’s, that’s not a lot. You can do that. And I remember I was like, it’s kind of a lot.
What do you mean? It’s not a lot. And we talked about it and she’s like, it’s not a lot, Kat. It’s not a lot. And in that moment, what, [00:12:00] like I took that coaching. And what I realized is I could do two things with that coaching. I could trust her and I could just be like, Oh, she knows it’s probably not a lot.
Or I could go in circles about how much work I have to do. And what I decided is if I’m like my, if I invested in this coach, I’m going to trust her. And when she says that it’s actually not that much work, And that I actually can’t do it. I’m gonna trust her now. Look, my brain wanted to be like, well, she doesn’t have kids.
She doesn’t know what it’s like. La, la, la, la, la, la, la. Like, that’s what my brain wanted to say. But the truth was. If I want to get something done and I think I don’t have enough time, I just have to either work faster and trust [00:13:00] myself or I have to make the time or maybe both. Right. And here’s what I realized.
My, after this event, my three day event ended. There was so many operations that had to happen behind the scenes. And this was such an organized event. It was the most proud of myself that I have been in a long time because I’m not typically a very organized person. I have held an identity. That I’m a hot mess and I think any mom can identify with the hot mess identity, especially when their kids are young and this event went so well.
It was so smooth. Um, there were things, there’s lots of like areas for growth, but I was just so impressed by the organization of it. And I realized that like I got a lot done in a short amount of time and I I actually do have the time [00:14:00] to do the things I want to do. And here’s, I ended up thanking my coach for this because she, here’s the thing is you think you don’t have time, but you also don’t know what your next level is.
Your next level could look at your schedule right now and be like, girl, you have time. Like you have time right now. You don’t even know what the next level looks like. And what I really appreciated and what I want you to take from this is you can tell yourself you have time or you could look at the time you have and say, I’m going to.
Push what is possible of how much output I can do in this amount of time. And that’s what I did. Like when I, with this live event, I was like, you know what? I might think I don’t have time and I might not have a lot of time, but what if I just [00:15:00] looked at this differently? What if I pushed myself? It’s a think differently and tell myself a different story and what I told myself was I have enough time.
I don’t need that much time. What I need to get better at is to stop one, the distractions and two, I really need to be. Couple things. Let me, let me do this in like lessons. So for me to execute a lot of work in a short amount of time, right? Like a lot of work in a short amount of time. What I needed to do is number one, I needed to get laser focused on what I needed to complete.
Now for that event, there’s a lot of event stuff that needed to be handled. So I had to get laser focused on like what needs to be worked on now. That’s number one. Number two, I had to [00:16:00] eliminate. the distractions of other projects or other things. Here’s the thing. When you have work to do, and I know all of you can resonate when you have specific work to do, your brain is going to want you to work on other.
because your brain is going to want to keep you very safe and what’s not safe to your brain is working on things you’ve never done before or doing things you haven’t practiced a lot of, right? So like if you want to double or triple the amount of content that you put out, or let’s say you’re starting a podcast or like.
Whatever that looks like for you, if you want to level up the way you market, your brain is going, is going to be the best at coming up with reasons to not do what you need to do. Right? Like that is what our brain is going to do. And what I want you to do in spite of that is [00:17:00] one, actually have the awareness to understand what your brain’s trying to do and two, keep reeling it back in.
Let’s reel it back in. We’re here to get this work done. We’re here to post more. How can I simplify this? How can I let go of the distractions? How can I? Make this as easy as possible for myself. How can I just trust my words and accept that like, this might look messy, this might not be my best work, but I’m going to put it out because I made a commitment to myself.
It’s a different energy, right? Like. When you are trying to do more, like have more output, right? Like create more content in a short amount of time, you either need to create more time or you need to utilize the time that you have very well in whatever way works for you. And here’s what I, I want to also mention that when I say utilize your time well, [00:18:00] I don’t mean utilize your time like Your coach does or utilize your time.
Like people who are, have really good time management, like do you need to figure out what works best for you? Because here’s the thing is. There was a time in my business where I really needed to separate my time with my family and my time with my, um, in my business. And when I had my first son, I needed to separate those times because I needed.
To focus on the content, like on creating content and serving my clients and blah, blah, blah, but I’m in a different time where my business, where I have to like test new things and what works really well for me might not look good to everyone else, but if it works well for me, then who the F cares. Now, what I want you to do, and I was actually trying, I was talking about this with my clients during our live event last week.[00:19:00]
Is one thing like if you want to double the amount of content that you create, if you want to like really get great at marketing, let me just be clear about something and nobody wants to say this out loud, but it’s the truth. You’re going to have to create more content. Like it is a numbers game. Like you don’t get to like.
Like you don’t get to just put a little content here and there and then like get the result. No, you have to create more if you want more, but how you make it easy and simple for yourself. Is you really identify what slows down that process so you can get better so you can one stop letting perfection slow you down too.
And let me give you some examples of what slows people down and creating more content, right? Because they also tell me. Oh, I don’t have time to create content. And then I’m like, well, what are you doing with your time? And one, so let’s talk about a couple of things that slow [00:20:00] people down when creating content.
One, they’re spending way too much time on Canva so much time on Canva. Canva doesn’t pay your bills, actual value from you and your brain and your wisdom and your experience that is going to pay your bills when you get your business up and running or wherever your business is at. That is what is going to pay the bill.
So one, people are spending, some people are spending way too much on Canva. Secondly, people are slowing down their, their, like, I need to put a name to this, but like, there’s the time you have an idea to post and then there’s the time that you post it and it’s delivered into the world. What I tell my clients is like, everything in the middle, we need to expedite and cross off.
Like, What’s a hundred percent not necessary. From here to here, [00:21:00] what can we just, because if that is what is taking you a long time, we just got to look under the hood and take out some things that are wasting your time. It’s easy. It’s like really, really simple, but you have to be willing to look at that and be like, huh, what does happen?
Like when I have an idea, What typically happens, what I see happen all the time is people go in circles about whether this is the right thing to post. Is this what my client needs to hear? Is this relevant? Is this aligned with my messaging? Is this? Um, you know, is this, like, should I talk about this or should I talk about that?
They’re spending so much time debating whether it’s the right thing when they could have done two different posts for the time they’ve been thinking about posting. I’m, that is really, it’s not about time management. It’s about [00:22:00] growth, like a full awareness of your own brain and how do we make it extremely easy for you?
So, just trust what your brain says and create the thing. And then sometimes it is going to be time management, just depending. Like I remember when I worked, um, when I worked a nine to five and I was building my business and I had my, at that time he was like seven months, uh, four, five, my first son was like five months to like.
I worked my nine-to-five and I remember I needed pockets of time to post because I was growing my podcast. So what I would do is I would go to work a little bit early every day and I would sit in my car and I would talk about my podcast and I would create IG stories and that was the time where I would promote [00:23:00] my podcast.
That was the time. And I made that just a part of my day. Like I’m like, that’s what’s happening. And sometimes of course it didn’t work and sometimes it did great, whatever. But like, for the most part, I made that time and I made it a part of like my little lifestyle because it was important for me to grow my podcast.
So that was one thing. And then I think I also would, uh, during lunchtime, I also did something, um, I would also post not every lunchtime, but like. Every, I don’t know, probably two times a week, I would post, um, at lunch during my nine to five and I had a kid, I had a full job, like my job was very demanding and, but I had to make the time.
So here’s the thing, there’s two things, you either make the time or you trust what your brain says, so you could just. Post, post, post, post, post, post, [00:24:00] post, and share content all the time. Like, just trust your brain. If your brain has an idea, I want you to pop out your phone and just do it. But what stops people is we, this should look more professional.
This should look more professional or people are going to know I’m still a beginner. I need to look more professional and like an experienced coach. And it’s like, if your desire to look like an experienced coach trumps you getting out more of your wisdom out into the world in content, you have it mixed up.
You have it mixed up. Fuck looking like an experienced coach. Excuse my language. That was a very strong F word. But looking like an experienced coach, you don’t get to like to have the, like, you have to, like, it [00:25:00] takes a lot of work to look like an experienced coach and a lot, a lot, a lot of like, if you, if you look at my content, when in my first six-figure year, my first multiple six figure year, it don’t look like an experienced coach, but I was.
Making the money. And the reason I was making the money is because I was prioritizing serving people, serving my community, serving my potential clients. When you learn how to prioritize serving over your own ego. Watch the money come in. Watch it. It’s a different level. But so many people are in their head, in their own business, and they’re thinking about themselves too much.
They’re thinking about their own business problems and how hard it is for them and how they’ll never have time and like la la la la la. But honestly, [00:26:00] look, you can’t tell me that. I, I have a one year old. And I have a four year old, I have a full fledged life, like a hundred percent. That’s a very demanding of me.
And I have this deep, deep desire to scale my business to a million plus in the next probably two years. So if that is my goal, I have a couple of choices. Right. Like I could look like a million dollar coach right now and I could like what I like do the things I think I need to do or I could double down on serving people and broaden my audience and think about ways to get more to get to more people, which that’s always going to be the answer.
This is why I’m such a [00:27:00] marketer. Because I really, truly believe that like, if you are a great marketer. You actually don’t have to be fabulous at sales, like a sales call. If you have a lot, look, and I’m not hating on sales calls. Sales calls are needed and like I’ve learned a lot, but like I haven’t closed a lot of clients on sales calls in my entire career.
There’s like a lot of clients. There were a lot of calls that were no’s. That’s just a part of the game. Like I think about it kind of, yeah, I think about it like sports, right? Like, Like, LeBron James, right? One of the greats. He misses shots all the time. It’s, it’s kind of the nature of, um, it’s the nature of the game and getting no’s on sales calls, getting no’s from whatever.
That’s the, that’s the nature of the [00:28:00] game. You have to learn how to accept that. But what I’ve learned is like, okay, the people that work with me, they actually care deeply about the community that they serve and they want, not only do they want to build this business, but they want to serve their community.
And I’m like, okay, you want to serve the community. You want to talk that talk then. Get very good at delivering value to people, like do it as much as possible while, while learning how to honor yourself and like, Oh, this is what I want you to deeply work on. Put out as much value as possible and also find this beautiful, you don’t have to find the balance, but create a balance where you get to just hop from.
I’m going to put a lot of effort into serving in my business and I’m [00:29:00] going to put a lot of effort into making sure that I’m present with my life and my family and like whatever your life looks like. Whatever’s important to you. Like that’s where I want you to put the effort and work. I don’t want you to put the effort and work of like, am I, is my time management really well?
Am I doing this correctly? I need some time management skills. Like no, fuck time management mother effing skills. You don’t need time management skills. You need to trust your brain. You need to trust that this is going to be messy on the way to wherever you want to be. Like that’s what you need to trust.
Like, I don’t sure you can get skills, like tips and tricks for time management, but time management isn’t going to make you create more content. Creating more content can happen in a Starbucks, a Starbucks. This is when I used to create my posts. I used to be in line at Starbucks and in the morning it’s typically kind of long.
So I would have like a solid 10 to 15 minutes. And I would [00:30:00] write posts during that time. And that was like some of my best stuff came in those little moments, like you don’t need a lot of time to create content. That’s the truth. What a lot of people need to do is just get off Canva and stop trying to get it on Canva.
And like, how do I just do it the quickest way possible? Um. They need to stop editing their, their copy so much editing their text and their, you know, the caption, like they want to go in circles and make it witty and make it fun and make it elevated. And it’s like, no, just like, say what you got to say to your people, invite them to work with you and you’ll make money.
Like you will make money. Okay. I’m kind of going on a little rant. So sorry guys. Um, but the point of this was really like, I want you guys to see that, like, You don’t need a ton of time to create more content. And if you’re telling yourself that story, [00:31:00] I really want you to check yourself and really have a real conversation with yourself of like, okay, if I got no more time back in the next, for the rest of the year, if you could create no more time, and you had to have only the time you have available, What would you do?
What would be the game plan? Because your circumstance is your circumstance. Like, sorry, like, I, I just had a second kid, a second child, and now I have two kids, and like… Yeah, it would be so much easier if I didn’t have kids. You know how much fucking time I would have to journal and reflect and like be in tune with like all, like I would have all the time in the world, but you know what?
I have kids and I chose to have those kids. So now I have to learn how to build a business with two beautiful children and I like to believe. Then I’m living the best mother effing life [00:32:00] in the world because of it. But if I just turned my head a little differently, I could look at it a lot differently and be like, Oh, my life is so hard.
Why did I choose to do this? I should have done this before I had kids, la, la, la, la. And it’s like, you really have to just decide to think about this differently. Okay, y’all.
