What is up y’all? I hope you are having such a good start to your week. Y’all, so much is happening inside Show Up Real. And with this launch, I am pumped. I’m really excited. I’m in a place where I am getting so much value out of my brain and on paper into the world. The amount of projects that I am working on right now is a little bit insane, but I am excited to deliver it. I’m excited to get all of this wisdom, knowledge, and expertise out of my brain. And it’s into curriculum that I’m very, very proud of.
So, we have a new curriculum in Show Up Real that’s coming out June 12th, and I’m just so pumped about it. I want to share some of those concepts with you today. One of them at least today. So you have a really good idea of what to expect inside Show Up Real, and also just teaching you for those of you who aren’t going to join Show Up Real, I want to teach you the simplest way to think about growing an audience in 2024.
So let’s get into the episode. I want to go over my process for growing an online community that feels like you. Like a movement that feels like your dream community. That’s one thing I did in the beginning of my business very early on. I was very, very clear about what I wanted to build and who I was building it for. And I think that a lot of people just talk about business in their content and they just talk about what they’re doing and what they’re interested in and it could be very random, but there is strategy to building a movement. There is strategy to building something that you are proud of, building something that you see the need for in this world and not just doing things from a place of, “I want to make money,” right? There is so much that can happen when you put your energy into really being of service and helping people and creating a movement online through your content.
So there are five different steps to building your online community. I’m going to share them with you right now. But what I specifically want to share with you today is I want to talk about your movement words. Movement words are something that I implemented in Show Up Real. And with the new curriculum that’s coming out June 12th, I’ve really doubled down on it. And I’ve really decided that movement words are the way that you are going to build a movement. And I didn’t just like make it up. I really analyzed what did I do well, what do my best clients do well, and I took that learning and put it in the program. So we’re going to be talking about movement words in just a second.
But before we get into that, I want to give you my five-step process. If you are starting from scratch, if you are brand new to creating content on platforms, on social media platforms, on long-form platforms, I want to give you this process. Very simply, you can take this process and take action right now and go build a community for yourself. So these are the five steps:
Number one, you are going to choose a platform. You’re going to choose the platform that is the most familiar to you and the platform you already know. I don’t want you to go back and forth about this. It’s really that simple. Don’t try to be on platforms that you don’t even engage with in the first place. It’s only going to slow down your growth. So number one, you’re going to choose the platform.
Number two, you’re going to choose your movement words. Your movement words are the pillars to what is going to be your personal brand online. A lot of people just think about their business and just think what they want to share with their business. But I think the biggest difference when you are building a community versus just creating content for your business is when you are creating community, you want it to feel like a movement. You want it to feel like something that you are creating in the world. And people want to know about the movement maker, right? Like if you are the movement maker, if you are the person that is creating this movement, they don’t want to just know about the movement. They want to know about you. They want to know that you’re a whole ass human. They want to know about your personality and your traits and what you like. Movement words are a compilation of words that are going to help you be very intentional about how you show up online. We’ll talk more about that in just a minute, but that is number two. You’re going to choose your movement words.
Number three, you have to learn how to create content fast and often. This is very, very important that you focus on getting experience in creating content versus being very, very strategic. This is a problem I see among a lot of people. They want to get it right so badly that they aren’t showing up online. They’re not even learning how to stay consistent because they’re trying to get it too right. This is a mistake. You don’t want to do this. If you are brand new to content or if you haven’t been consistent for a long period of time, then you have to learn how to create content quickly and consistently. And you have to learn how to trust your first ideas and run with them. You can’t go back and forth and try to make things right. It’s going to slow you down. So that’s the third thing that you need to focus on.
Number four is you have to learn how to be social on social media. It is
not enough to just post content. You have to know how to engage with people. This is a very, very important part of content marketing. I talk a lot about this in my program. This is not just about posting and forgetting about it. You really have to build relationships with people. You have to be social on social media. You have to create and be a part of conversations. So that is number four.
And then number five is you have to give it time. You have to give it time. And this is why my program is 12 months because it does take time to build your movement, to build your community. You have to give it a solid year of consistency. And in my program, you learn how to stay consistent without the pressure and the hustle and doing the most. It is very, very important that you understand that you need time. Time is going to be your biggest asset when you are building a community.
Alright, so let’s get into movement words. Movement words are basically the words that represent your personal brand online. And I want to give you my movement words so you have a good idea of what that looks like. Movement words for me are very, very intentional. I know that these are the words that I can come back to when I am overthinking my content. When I don’t know what to create, I come back to these words and I know they represent me and my brand and I create content around them. So my movement words are Latina, Mama, Ambition, Simplicity, and the last one is a mix between authenticity and joy. When I create content, I make sure I’m hitting these points. It really helps me stay focused on what I want to share.
