Welcome back to the Show Up Real podcast. I hope you are doing okay even though this is such an ugly, ugly, ugly world right now. This month has been long. I saw an Instagram reel the other day that summed it up. It showed a guy in front of his TV with breaking news, devastating stories over and over. It captured so much of what January 2025 has been like. If you’re feeling emotional, angry, sad, or anything else, I just want to validate those feelings. You’re so valid in feeling all of that. I hope you’re taking care of yourself. Go process your emotions, move your body, listen to music. In times like this, I center back to what’s in my control—what can I control and who do I want to be in these situations? I send you a big hug, and we’ll get through this together, one step at a time.

Now, let’s talk about storytelling. Today, I want to go through my storytelling process to help you create content that not only sells your services but also connects you deeper with people. This helps them get a good idea of who you are, the type of business you’re building, and the type of coach you are, so they understand you quicker. The goal is to help people find you, know that you offer a service, and understand you and your offer quickly. Storytelling is a huge part of that, and I want to share my process to help you do this in your own business.

This is what I’ll be covering in my workshop, Selling with Stories, this Friday, January 31. It’s three hours long, and you can register for just $27. I’ll teach you in detail how to create and tell stories that sell your offers—coaching or anything else that helps you grow your sales. We’ll go through a process similar to what I’m sharing today, and I’ll also share another process. You’ll have time to work, write, and create your stories, pick your brand stories, and do a lot in a short amount of time. Plus, you’ll get coaching. Along with the class, you’ll also receive 100 content storytelling prompts, 10 ChatGPT prompts to repurpose your content, and a simple workbook. It’s going to be an amazing investment. It’s the best $27 you’ll spend this month, maybe this year. I hope to see you there—sign up!

Let’s dive into the storytelling process. This is my six-step storytelling method.

  1. Spark Connection: Start by sparking some connection. This could be a one-sentence belief related to your industry, niche, or the result you help people get. It could also be a realization, a shared struggle, or something else that grabs attention and connects you to your audience’s emotions or challenges. The goal is to connect quickly. Here’s an example: “People want to work with you because of your energy.” This belief could be controversial, but I stand by it. Another example: “If you want more inquiries, get on more sales calls and close more clients, you have to believe you can help people.”
  2. Set the Scene: After the connection, briefly describe the moment or circumstance that led to that belief, realization, or struggle. Be as vivid as possible to create an emotional connection. For example, “It was 2 a.m., and I was staring at my laptop, trying to hit my income goal for the month. I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and doubting if I even wanted this business anymore.”
  3. Introduce the Conflict: Now, introduce the real challenge or conflict. What was the problem? What was blocking you? For example, “The problem wasn’t my schedule. It was that I was chasing goals I didn’t even believe in, and it was costing me my health and happiness.”
  4. Reveal the Breakthrough: Share the turning point or insight that changed everything. This is where you focus on growth and transformation. For example, “That night, I realized I couldn’t keep doing this. I created a plan to build a business that worked for my life, not the other way around.”
  5. Show the Transformation: Paint a picture of what happened after the breakthrough. What changed? What does success look like? How did it feel? Use examples or testimonials, if possible. For example, “Now I have a thriving business that allows me to work four days a week while hitting my income goals.”
  6. Inspire Action: Tie your story back to your audience’s struggles or dreams. Show them that this transformation is possible for them. Then, invite them to take action. For example, “If you’re tired of working around the clock, trying to create more content, and you want to simplify, come work with me. I made my program just for people like you. Book a one-on-one call and let’s talk.”

This is the six-step storytelling method:

  1. Spark the connection.
  2. Set the scene.
  3. Introduce the conflict.
  4. Reveal the breakthrough.
  5. Show the transformation.
  6. Inspire action.

The key to storytelling is being real and raw, especially in the conflict section. Don’t breeze over the tough parts of the story—get real about the challenges and the lesson learned.

I hope this helps. Use this process to create content that not only connects with your audience but also inspires action. Go try it right now, and I’d love to see you at the workshop this Friday! You’ll get all the details on how to apply this process and more. You’ll also get the 100 prompts for content creation, 10 ChatGPT prompts to repurpose your content, and a simple workbook.

The Selling with Stories workshop is happening this Friday, January 31. Click here to register and secure your ticket. I can’t wait to see you there. After the workshop, I’ll also be opening doors to Show Up Real, and there will be a special bonus for those who join.

If you have any questions, let me know. Sending you a big hug and I’ll see you soon.
