Hello, hello, hello. Welcome back to Show Up Real Podcast. I hope you are having a wonderful day. Anyways, I hope y’all are doing well. I have been, how have I been? I’ve been well, I hired a new coach, which is super exciting. I’ve actually hired, I hired my client who’s been on the show. She is an ADHD coach and I’ve been wanting to work with her and I’m so, so pumped. We’ve already had actually two calls already and it’s been so, so good. I hired her.
because I, look, I’m a learner. I do a lot of learning, consuming content. I have a therapist. I’m actually gonna hire a new business coach soon. I need support. If I’m gonna grow this business, I need support. And specifically, I wanted to work with an ADHD coach because I got diagnosed with ADHD last year.
And there’s still so much that I have to learn about my brain. I really don’t want to be, like, just don’t want ADHD to define me, but I think a lot of my frustration in business and life, a lot of my insecurities too, have been, have stemmed from my ADHD.
especially before I knew I had ADHD. Like I always suspected it, but I think getting diagnosed really helped me realize that like, it’s not, it’s not like a problem with me. It’s just that I learn and do things a little bit differently. So I wanted support in learning how to kind of use my brain in the best way I can. So I’m so pumped. And she’s like, honestly,
Her name’s Brenda Miranda and she’s a very experienced therapist and she’s an ADHD specialist and expert and she’s just like, I feel very, very, very safe in her hands. And she’s really challenging me already. So I’m so pumped about it. But anyways, besides that, I am so excited. Doors are opening to show up real tomorrow. And if you have considered joining,
I really, really encourage you to join. We are making a lot of changes into the program, which I’ll be announcing probably tomorrow or the end of this week. And I’m so pumped about it. All right, let’s get into this episode. I’m going to talk about the real reason you are not consistent with content or you can’t stay consistent with content, OK?
This episode is gonna break down why most online coaches and service providers struggle to stay consistent with content. And I wanna be clear, it’s not your laziness, it’s not your lack of time, it’s because you don’t have a content system that works for you. Here’s the thing, you’ll talk about why, well, we’ll talk about why.
strategy alone is only half the picture and why a system is so important. I recently did a podcast episode talking a little bit about this, but I’m going to break it down a little bit more today. Okay. I’m trying to think if there’s anything else I need to tell you. Oh yes, there is a 48 hour bonus when you join show up real starting tomorrow until 23rd, 24th, 25th.
the end of day on the 25th, which is a Friday. When you join, you will get a 60 minute call with me and we’re gonna focus on your mindset around marketing and deep dive your biggest limiting beliefs that are keeping you either not consistent or keeping your content very vague in general. This.
call is going to be the marketing mindset call that is going to challenge you to think differently. Your mindset has everything to do with your content strategy and system. And this call specifically is going to focus on, let’s get your mindset in a place where content feels simple, marketing feels simple and doable.
So if you join, you will get a 60 minute one-on-one call with me. So make sure if you’re considering it, start making the decision now. All right. Let’s get into the episode. All So why is consistency a content killer? Or when is not being consistent a content killer? Most people blame their son.
blame themselves for not being consistent. They either blame their circumstances. They blame that they’re a student or a mom or you have multiple kids or I have a nine to five. So it’s very hard for me. I know that game. Trust me, I play that game. I play that game with myself too. But the reality is that any time that I have not been as consistent as I wanted, it’s
typically a mix of system strategy or mindset. Like it’s 100 % one of those. And what I find is that if your mindset is there, okay? If your mindset is there and you have, you know, you’re telling yourself that you, you know, that your offer can change people’s lives, that you are a great coach and that your people want this offer. If you believe those things, the strategy is literally just not.
And it really, really isn’t because you’re you will be speaking to the right people and talking about your the transformation that you sell so easily when you are when those three things in your mind are kind of checked mark and you feel good about it. But what I find is when it really comes to consistency, you most people just need a system. They need a like not even a complex system. They need a
wildly simple system. That’s it. Like that’s typically the one thing. So in reality, people are taught to create content in a way, like what happens a lot of the time is people are taught to create content in a way that just doesn’t work for their brain, doesn’t work for their lifestyle, and doesn’t work for their nervous system. Like it is as simple as that. Consistency is not about hustle. It’s not about overworking.
It’s not about burning out. It is about a structure that is doable. That’s it. That is it. So that is what I kind of want to break down a little bit more. So let’s get into it. And I mentioned I have a podcast episode. I think it was two podcast episodes before this one, where I talk about the difference between content strategy and a content system. But I want to give you a little reminder. The strategy, your content,
Strategy is what kind of content you’re creating and why you’re creating it. It is the thought and the intentionality behind what you are putting out into the world. That is what your content strategy is.
And your content system is how you get that done. It’s how you get that done. How do you get the strategy that you put together, the strategy that you want to go by, right? How do you get that done? That is the system. That is the system. And if you want to do it consistently, if you want to do it with less stress, you need a system that works for you. Both are necessary when you’re trying to create sales with content.
You need both. So here are some signs that you’re missing a system. If you think you have a system, but you struggle to get content out, here are some signs that your system isn’t working for you or that you don’t have one at all. The first thing is you start from scratch every time you post. And I want to be clear about something here.
Because I am a person who a lot of my content starts from, it feels like it starts from scratch. And especially like my first, like when I first got fully booked, I felt like I was starting from scratch every single time. And it could feel that way. But the reality is if you are super clear on your ideal client,
You’re super clear on what you help people do inside of your offer. And you are kind of confident. I want to say comfortable enough just telling people what you believe is the right thing to do if they’re trying to get the result. If you know those things, you’re not starting from scratch. Because if you’re starting from scratch,
That means you have a strategy problem as well. But it could feel like you’re starting from scratch if your system isn’t working for you. So let me, I feel like I just, I feel like that was confusing. But one of the signs that you need a better system is you feel like you are starting from scratch every single time you post, but you.
You know your ideal client, you know your offer, you know what you’re helping people do, but you still feel like you’re starting from scratch. That is likely that you have a systems problem, okay? You’re relying on feeling inspired to create content. This is a big one. Like if you have to feel inspired to create content, that is like a huge, huge, huge systems issue. Because if you have a content system that works for you,
you can just hop into doing what you need to do. Get the content out there. Create it.
If you’re relying on feeling inspired to create and publish content, then it’s going to be a challenge. And I think for those of you who feel like this is you, if you have to feel inspired, then you do have a systems issue. And some of you might even have a system, but the system isn’t working for you, right? I had a client who like inside show up real, she was batch recording.
and she would record a whole bunch of content, but then she couldn’t even get into actually finishing everything she wanted to record because she was so in her head. And then when she would finish and she would have some pieces of content, it would take her like a week or so, or maybe you wouldn’t even get out to edit the content that it never got into the world. Like she was doing the work or it felt like she was doing the work. But when it came to actually creating the content,
because she was so in her head and she wasn’t feeling inspired, the content never got out into the world, or it took very long to get out into the world. Okay? So if you have to feel inspired to create content, that is a problem. That is a systems issue, and we’ll talk about it. Another sign that you’re missing a system or your system isn’t working for you is you have all of the ideas but no clear flow in capturing it.
batching it or publishing it. You have tons of ideas and you don’t know what to do with it. Right? I get like this a lot because although I have a content system, I don’t always follow the content system. That’s my ADHD brain. I always like to blame everything on ADHD and I don’t really care. I will blame until I know better. But the reality is I kind of play this game with myself sometimes.
where I have all these ideas, but I don’t know what to do with it, when the reality is, OK, cool, then go with your system or create a system that works better for you. But this is a sign that you need a better system, or you need a system. And then the next sign I want to mention is you’re overwhelmed even when you desire to show up. You want to show up. You want to do the work. Your body wants to say something.
but you feel overwhelmed. All of these signs are signs you need a better system that works for you. It doesn’t mean you should be adding more trending audio or you should be editing better or that you should be recording more or you should be whatever. The reality is you need a system that actually works for you and your life and your lifestyle.
So here is what a simple repeatable content system looks like. And yeah, content system looks like. You have a central message or a core focus. So if you want your system to feel simple, if you want to get consistent, you have to have a core message you’re trying to make in your content.
to your ideal audience. Now, that core message could be like my core message before when I was selling only one-on-one was I help you sign your first four figure client. I leaned very heavy on my core message is the result I’m gonna get you and showing you it’s possible, showing you it’s doable.
right, showing you that you can sign four-figure clients regardless of your circumstance. That was my core message and focus. Now, I had a lot of other kind of themes in the brand that I was building, especially, but overall, like, people knew me as the coach that could help them sign four-figure clients. That’s what I was known for. Okay? Now, for you,
I want you to ask yourself, what am I known for? What do people know me as? What is the result I’m helping people get? Or what is the skill I help people grow, right? You want a core message and you don’t, like I want, it doesn’t need to be perfect, but it does need to be decided. It does need to be decided.
Because if you don’t make a decision around your core messaging, if that’s not decided, if you haven’t decided your messaging, then it’s going to be a problem to actually implement your content. And that will be the problem.
And if you do have that problem, join Show Up Real and we will work on your mindset and kind of bring up what the real, real problem is. Because the real problem isn’t like your perfect result that you help people get. The real problem is you don’t think what you have thought of or decided on is good enough. That’s the problem. So number one, you have to have a core central focus in your…
Second piece here is you have to have a set of like three to five repeatable.
Content themes or types so specifically I think types right so you have to have three to five five might be a lot but three to five Like types of content like formats Okay, you have to have you have to have your go-to formats that are repeatable so for example in my content There’s some content. I’m repeating on a regular basis
I have my talking head videos where I am kind of doing a rant and talking about that. I have carousels that I do. People come to look, come to expect content from me, right? A certain kind of content from me. Some of it’s repeatable and then some of it’s not. So like even with the three to five pieces of repeatable content types,
One of the content types could be like your free for all or what’s the there’s a word I’m trying to think of. I’m not going to think of it because yeah, I’m not even close. But one of the types of content could be like, OK, and I’m leaving one format where I’m just allowed to always play. If you are a person who likes the freedom to play and you want to post content like if you have an idea for content or you see a trending.
piece of content that you want to create, you’re always allowed to do that. And honestly, that should be one of your three to five content format types. But you need to have go-to formats that you go to, right? You need to have a full, like, you know, every single week, I’m going to post these types of content. Now, I could increase how many I put out, but at least…
If I have these go-to format type, like content format types, right? If I have these, then I don’t have to think about how to create it. Meaning like, when you do it over and over and over again, the process of creating it becomes incredibly easy because you’ve repeated it so many times. And I want that for you for a good amount of content. Something that…
you know works, something that you’ve tried before, something that you feel comfortable repeating over and over and over again. That’s number two. Number three is you want to have a light process for idea capture for batching, if you want to batch, and publishing. So after having your
formats, your go-to formats, your go-to content formats. That’s one decision. The next decision is, OK, cool. What is my process for idea capturing? What is my process for actually capturing the content? And then what is my process for publishing? So let me give you an idea of what this could look like.
One thing I did when I was only selling one-on-one, I’ll do two of these. I’m going to give you two examples. One of when I was selling one-on-one and then another when I’m selling groups. So number one, when I’m selling one-on-one, the process looks like this. I use my Apple Notes app to capture ideas. Honestly, my ideas are pretty random, but
I like to, what I like to do is I will use one brand new note with the idea at the top. Right? So anytime I, and I get ideas when I’m working out, when I’m regulating my nervous system, when I’m maybe sometimes I’m consuming content or like a YouTube video, whatever. When I have the idea, I go to my phone, I open a note.
and I make a brand new no and I put the idea front and center. And then I even write out what I want to say. Sometimes it’s only like a sentence or two. Like I’m not actually creating the entire piece of content. Sometimes I’m just putting like the thoughts that are coming to my mind. And that’s how I capture my ideas. Okay. That’s how I capture my ideas. Now there are lots of ways to do this. Now with ChatGPT, like I think I have a lot of, you know.
I definitely don’t want you to use ChatGBT to write any content for you, but I would definitely, like if ChatGBT is a part of your idea capturing, like I think that’s a great idea, right? I just want you to consider that your capturing process must be simple, because what happens when you’re…
when you have an idea and you are at the grocery store with two of your kids. It’s a lot harder to capture that idea. So I want your process to be simple. This is what I do when I have an idea. And think of it as like, once you’ve made that decision, it’s checkmarked and you don’t go back. You don’t go back. You put your idea in the notes app.
regardless and now you never have to think about ideation. So that’s one piece. Now recording, creating, not capturing, recording, batch recording, whatever, writing, whatever it is, what is your process for that? When are you actually writing? When are you expanding on the ideas that you’ve created? One thing I did in the beginning of my business is,
I remember the very beginning of my business before I even sold anything, but I was creating content. I would, and this is when my son was like six months old, I remember, would go to work. And before I went to work, before I like walked in, I would park and I would use like 15 to 30 minutes and I would stay in my car, which means I would have to go a little early.
I would stay in my car and then I would finish a piece of content right then and there and publish it. And if I didn’t finish a piece of content, then I would use that time to do Instagram stories or an Instagram live or I would publish something in the car before I walked into work. It was just what I did.
And every once a week, what I did was I would use that time to talk about the podcast episode I had put out that week. And we have this framework inside Show Up Real where you talk about what you talked about. And it’s the easiest system. Like it’s the easiest process. Basically, you talk about…
something that you had previously already talked about it. You just talk about it from a different direction or a different way. So for example, if I talked about how to create content with your nine to five on my podcast one day, right?
that week before work, I would be in my car and I’d be like, okay, I did a podcast episode on how to create content with a nine to five. Now, how can I expand on that? So I could be like, okay, I could talk about my content system that supports me creating content with a nine to five. Let me, what is my content system? I would write that down and then I would either go on live or go on my stories and I would explain that.
I’m doing two things. I’m mentioning my podcast, which is great, because now they know they could go there if they want more. And then I’m also expanding and giving them something new to think about. So that was my process. So much of my publishing happened in the car. But once you become, I mean, everyone’s at a different level. So if you are comfortable with content for the most part, you could be making content on the fly without even
thinking about it because it’s just a part of your regular routines. And that’s OK, too. I don’t want you to use your content system against you. You’re always allowed to show up. You’re always allowed to post. But I do think it’s so helpful to have a go-to strategy that works for your life. So for me, for my group programs, when I’m launching, my content system typically is pre-done. So we have a
a certain amount of content, and we have content templates, like social media graphics, and the copy that we’re going to put in. And I have my team put these carousels or whatever they are. I have them put them together, and that content goes out without me. So that during a launch,
The goal is that all I have to do is create content on the spot. And when I am in a launch, what I typically do is I do cringe challenge. Cringe challenge is my signature challenge inside of Show Up Real, where I challenge my clients to post, I wanna say it’s like 20 or 30 pieces of content in two weeks.
So it’s basically this challenge that helps you embrace cringe. That’s why we call it cringe challenge, so that you could put out more content than you ever have. And I like to do this exercise during every single launch, because launches are those windows where the doors are open to my program, and I want to get as many people in and support as many people as I can to help them grow their business with content.
So that is how it works for me. It’s like we have the specific types of content. Typically, I have four types of content that I’m creating. I would say four to six types of content that we’re creating per launch. There’s leadership content. If you look at my past episodes on the types of content you need to be creating, I run through these. So I’ll just breeze through them right now. I have something I call leadership content, which is really focused on my point of view.
I a graphic for that. Then I have another graphic specifically for possibility content, what I call possibility content. Possibility content is content that really inspires your ideal client and helps them see what’s possible. It very much calls out their circumstances and how it’s possible even in their circumstances. Then there’s how-to content and then after that there’s-
or I say educational content, and then after that, there’s solution-based content where you’re giving them solutions, right? Like those are the four types. Now for a launch, I’m adding to that. Those are like the basics for one-on-one, but for a launch, I’m adding to that, and there’s typically some type of template I have for client testimonials, and then some type of process for client objections, right? So I’m adding to that. So I have a variety of kind of…
I wanna make sure during my launch and during, you know, when I’m selling anything that there is variety in my content and I’m not just talking about the same topics, not the same topics, but the same type of content, right? So if all my content is like inspirational and very much it’s possible for you, then the strategy part is missing, the teaching part is missing.
Right, the speaking to their biggest challenges is missing, right? So that’s why I wanna make sure that I’m speaking to their challenges. I’m also sharing my leadership and my point of view that really differentiates me in the market. And then also I am kind of storytelling through my possibility content and giving them stories of why it’s possible for them. And there’s just variety in the types of content I’m creating.
So that is sort of what I’m thinking about for my process for launching. But for my launches, I have support, right? Because I have a team member, I have support in this too. it frees up room for me to be creative with my content. And then the last thing I want to mention here is when you’re creating your kind of light process to capture
batch or slash record and then publish. Really look at your lifestyle, look at where and what you’re creating content, how you’re creating content now, and identify a window of time that you can dedicate daily. Or if you want to batch record, that’s fine. But I find for a lot of people that doesn’t work in the beginning.
If you’re more experienced entrepreneur, I think that you could make that work if you’re committed. But you want to find a window of time that you can commit to on a regular basis and let that be the time there that you create that process, that you implement that process. And your mindset is so important because you really do have to, and this is what I want for you. I want you to be detached from your content. Your content should not be like the
big thing in your business that is so hard and difficult and like, you feel like it’s everything. It’s not everything. And the fact that you are, your brain is telling you it’s like everything, that’s a part of the problem. It’s not everything. I want you to be, I want you to practice being detached from your content and see it as something you have to do to grow your business. But once you’re done with it, you get to leave it alone.
and just go on with your fucking life. Excuse my language. So from a mindset perspective, I just want you to be telling yourself that content is simple, that it’s easy, that I just have to follow the process that I made for myself. And I also want you to tell yourself that you have permission to change and edit that as needed.
But at the end of the day, you’re already the expert at what you do. You don’t have to.
do all these bells and whistles to be more likable, to perform in your content, you’re an expert at what you do. That means that what you have to say about what you teach and what you talk about in your message, right, and how you help people, what you have to say about those topics, you probably don’t have to think very hard because you’re already the expert.
And typically what I find with all of my clients, right? And all my clients have done such amazing things. What I find is they’re over-complicating and trying to say it right, trying to make it likable, trying to make it digestible, when the reality is we just need you to share your knowledge and wisdom. And if it comes out imperfectly, so be it. The way you get better at that is by repeating the process.
not by slowing it down and trying to make each piece of content perfect. You’re going to make hundreds and hundreds and hundreds and thousands of pieces of content in your business. Stop putting so much pressure on one piece. That is a waste of your time. It is slowing down your business. And it’s slowing down the movement that you believe in.
Okay.
you can have a simple repeatable process. And if you want that, make sure to sign up for my training. It’s happening tomorrow. All right, y’all, I think that’s it for today. Doors open to show up real tomorrow, Wednesday, April 23rd. And there’s the 48-hour bonus where we’re going to have our one-on-one marketing mindset call. And we are going to identify your biggest mindset blocks.
and help you come up with thoughts that you can practice that combat that thinking. Because that’s the reality about kind of changing your brain and the way you think about content is by identifying what those mindsets are, what those thoughts and beliefs are, and then creating different ones to change that. And we’re going to figure that out on our one-on-one call, which is a part of the 48-hour bonus.
All right, y’all, I will see you later. Big, hugs. Bye.
