Welcome to the Show Up Real podcast. I’m so excited about this name change. I went back and forth about this so long, too long. And so funny story, before we get into today’s episode, I almost named my podcast Show Up Real. Like two years ago, when I switched it to Latinas Booked Out, I was toying around with Show Up Real, and that felt right. But at that time, I was in this energy of, like, no, I need to strategically do Latinas Booked Out because that’s what my business is telling me.

So I named the podcast Latinas Booked Out. And to be honest, I liked it, but I never loved it, and it just didn’t feel super aligned with me, to be honest. But I was like, we’ll keep the business moving. And with this change, I kept going back and forth too. And I was like, ah, it should be something more specific or more clear, like whatever. And I just decided to just do it. I’m like, let’s just go. This is something that feels so aligned.

And I also, here’s the thing. You never know what direction your business is going to go. And I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want as the future of my business and my next businesses and who I see myself becoming in the past five years, 10 years, right?

Okay. Let’s talk about engagements. I have been wanting to do this episode for so long. There’s so much content that I have been wanting to put out that I haven’t, and I’m just wildly excited to record and actually say all of this out loud. Cause I have a lot to say when it comes to content.

So let’s get into it today. I’m going to share 10 pieces of advice. I guess I’m going to share my 10 reasons. Okay. The 10 reasons your engagement is low. Okay. So before I know we already said this, but before we get started, I do want to remind you Show Up Real, my content and community building program, is opening for enrollment. June 4th. That’s happening June 4th, and you will, I think you already heard a little something about it before we started the show.

Okay, so let’s get into it. I’m just going to dive right in. 10 reasons your engagement is low. I’m really thinking of Instagram, but I also think these apply to any social platform. Okay, so let’s dive into these reasons why your engagement might be low on social media.

  1. You’re Not Posting Consistently: One of the biggest reasons for low engagement is inconsistent posting. Your audience expects to hear from you regularly. When you’re inconsistent, you miss out on opportunities to connect with them and stay top of mind.
  2. Your Content Isn’t Relevant: If your content doesn’t resonate with your audience or provide value to them, they’re less likely to engage with it. Make sure your content is aligned with your audience’s interests, needs, and pain points.
  3. You’re Not Using Visuals Effectively: Visual content tends to perform better on social media. If you’re not incorporating eye-catching visuals into your posts, you may be missing out on engagement. Experiment with images, graphics, videos, and other visual elements to grab your audience’s attention.
  4. You’re Ignoring Comments and Messages: Engagement is a two-way street. If you’re not responding to comments and messages from your audience, you’re missing out on opportunities to build relationships and foster engagement. Take the time to interact with your audience and show them that you value their input.
  5. You’re Not Using Hashtags: Hashtags can help increase the visibility of your posts and attract new followers. If you’re not using relevant hashtags in your posts, you may be limiting your reach and missing out on potential engagement. Do some research to identify popular hashtags in your niche and incorporate them into your posts.
  6. Your Captions Are Boring: Captions play a crucial role in engaging your audience and sparking conversation. If your captions are uninspiring or lack personality, your audience may scroll past your posts without engaging. Put some thought into crafting compelling captions that encourage likes, comments, and shares.
  7. You’re Posting at the Wrong Times: The timing of your posts can impact their visibility and engagement. If you’re posting when your audience is inactive or unlikely to see your content, you may struggle to get engagement. Experiment with posting at different times of the day to see when your audience is most active.
  8. You’re Not Encouraging Engagement: Sometimes, all it takes to boost engagement is a simple call to action. If you’re not prompting your audience to like, comment, or share your posts, they may not take action on their own. Be proactive in encouraging engagement by asking questions, inviting opinions, or prompting shares.
  9. You’re Not Leveraging User-Generated Content: User-generated content can be a powerful tool for driving engagement and building community. If you’re not encouraging your audience to create and share content related to your brand, you’re missing out on valuable opportunities to increase engagement. Encourage your audience to share their experiences, reviews, and testimonials, and don’t forget to give them credit for their contributions.
  10. You’re Focusing Too Much on Selling: While it’s essential to promote your products or services on social media, focusing too much on selling can turn off your audience and decrease engagement. Instead of constantly pushing sales messages, focus on providing value, building relationships, and engaging with your audience authentically.

By addressing these common reasons for low engagement and implementing strategies to overcome them, you can increase your social media engagement and build a stronger connection with your audience. Remember to stay consistent, provide value, and prioritize building relationships, and you’ll see your engagement metrics improve over time.
